#494 Emergency switch
The 494 Emergency switch provides unlocking of up to two doors that are equipped with fail safe locks. This type of emergency switch may be preferred over any other type that requires to break the glass. Pushing in and down on the handle activates the normally open alarm switch and the word “Activated” appears at the top. The dual action is preventing accidental or mischievous activations. Resetting the Emergency switch is simple: insert the key, turn it, open the front cover, close the front cover, and the system will return to the original position.
The Emergency switch needs to be installed 42 to 48 inches from the floor to ensure accessibility for people in wheelchairs. They are Red in color to comply with the Code
An additional safeguard(s) shall be provided for life safety in case any single safeguard is rendered ineffective. NFPA 101 4.5.1, ADA, IBC
